about us

Ssuyom?

Progression in the practice of Tai Chi is often compared to a the ascent of a beautiful, high mountain.  The highest peak seems far off and the climber must exhibit patience and perseverance, taking small steps and pausing often to enjoy the view on the way up.

The experience is also unique to every individual, given their aptitude for learning and approach to practice, so you as a practitioner will effectively have your own mountain to climb.
~
Hence the ethos of:
Small steps up
your own mountain.

Class Approach

We set up classes in blocks of 8 weeks, with three blocks over the year and a break in the summer.

Tai Chi Classes

The 8-week model is to give beginners a reasonable amount of time to learn the principles and learn the basics of the first section of the form.

The classes cover:

~ Short-form Yang style Tai Chi
~ A variety of Qigong exercises
~ A short meditation

~

Qigong Classes

Qigong is similar to Tai Chi, but is easier to learn with less complex sequences. Catering for beginners, each 1-hour class covers multiple Qigong exercises such as “5 animals” and “8 pieces of brocade”, and also includes a short meditation.
